ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR(S)
In May, 2010, leadership of T.A.B.C.A.T.
Columbus passed to Brian Griffin (Treinel Avô). Treinel Avô subsequently enlisted Christopher Farris (Bruto) to co-teach as well, in order to keep the continuity of Capoeira in Columbus.
Treinel Avô has been with the group since its inception, and has visited Mestre Caboquinho in Michigan a number of times. Bruto began training with the group in 2004 and remained for three years until his departure for a two-year stint with Teach for America in California, from which he returned to Columbus in 2010.
Both of these students owe much of their knowledge to the support of Mestre Caboquinho, and the dedication of Ed Luna (Treinel Fuça Fuça,
or "Luna") who led the group under the guidance of Mestre Caboquinho from 2002 until the spring of 2010. Luna's dedication to the furthering of Capoeira culture in Columbus included many trips to Michigan and three voyages to Bahia, Brazil, where he received the title of Treinel in 2006 in the presence of other Bahian masters of Capoeira.
